About Me

Hi, my name is Abhir Kewalramani and I am a chess enthusiast, teacher, and lifelong learner of this great game.

My journey with chess began at the tender age of six, and I earned my international ranking by the age of twelve. I have been fortunate enough to get a chance to participate in many international chess competitions such as the Biel International Chess Festival, the Davos Summer Open, and the Lenzerhiede Open in Switzerland as well as the Reykjavik Open in Iceland. I am grateful to have won many accolades in chess, including the 1st place U16 prize in the Sharjah Open Chess tournament, and the 2nd place prize in the Dubai School Games Chess Championship U19.

However, my chess journey hasn’t been as smooth as you might expect. For many years that I was learning chess, I absolutely hated it! The lessons were long and boring, the tactics didn’t make any sense, and no matter what I did, I simply kept losing! It took me years (and a pandemic) to finally see the beauty in chess, and truly appreciate the wonderful game. That’s when I decided that there must be a better way, a more entertaining way to teach chess so that others don’t have to hate the game as much as I did.

Since 2020, I've been teaching chess to both children and adults. While teaching, I noticed that though numerous online platforms offered tutorials, they were often tedious and unrelatable for the elderly and marginalized communities. In response, I developed a novel approach, "Chessin2minutes." This innovative approach offers bite-sized tutorials that infuse the learning experience with enjoyment. Chessin2minutes champions the notion that chess can be universally accessible when taught in an engaging manner. Drawing inspiration from Bollywood and cricket, Chessin2minutes makes chess enjoyable, inclusive, and appealing to all, while ensuring that lessons can be grasped within just two minutes. Join me in this journey to make chess universally accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Let's rewrite the narrative together.
